The fate of Brittany will be explored in a performance taking place from July 3 to 6, 2025, at the Château de la Giraudais in Mézières-sur-Couesnon. The show tells the story of the war between the Kingdom of France and the Duchy of Brittany (1487-1491), which ended with the annexation of Brittany to France after the marriage of Anne of Brittany to King Charles VIII. Ten years after the Battle of 1488, Diccon, the sole surviving English archer, returns to Brittany to attend Anne’s second marriage to Louis XII. On his way, he meets another witness to these tragic events, and together they reminisce about key moments, such as the surrender of the Château de Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, the friendship between Duke Francis II and Edward Woodville, and the battle of Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier, where the Breton and allied forces fought the French army. The defeat of Brittany changed the course of history, shaping the destiny of Anne and the Duchy.
