« A Notte di A Memoria » ( La Nuit de la Mémoire ) est un spectacle historique retraçant, l’espace d’une nuit, une page de l’histoire de Bastia, et reconstituant plus particulièrement le moment de la « Relève des Gouverneurs » sous l’administration génoise, en langue corse « U Cambiu di Bastia », cérémonie officielle de passation des pouvoirs entre l’ancien gouverneur de la République de Gênes quittant la Citadelle avec sa suite pour prendre une nouvelle destination, et son successeur, accueilli au Vieux-Port avec ses gens et venant rejoindre sa nouvelle résidence bastiaise.
Cette cérémonie rituelle est reconstituée selon un protocole rigoureux, rapporté par un texte de Angelo Francesco Luri, chancelier du Royaume de Corse en 1671 et découvert par le Père Franciscain André-Marie, protocole inspiré de la Cour d’Espagne.
Cette manifestation, met en scène 150 figurants en costumes d’époque dont le cortège traverse la ville, oriflammes au vent, ponctué de lancement de drapeaux et du son des bombardes. Ce spectacle draine un public très nombreux.
Cette reconstitution plonge le spectateur au cœur de l’histoire de Bastia, à la période où la ville était le siège du pouvoir gênois, avec le quartier de Terranova qui était la ville à lui seul, le Palais des Gouverneurs, la Casetta siège du Podestà, le Pavillon des Nobles- Douze où les représentants des pièves de l’En-Deçà et de l’Au-Delà des Monts venaient siéger.
Le spectacle retrace tout le fonctionnement du Palais, avec le « bargello », le « massaro », le « castellano », le Conseil des Anciens… Dans cette architecture administrative, la place de Bastia-Capitale était alors prépondérante. Le cortège se dirige de la Citadelle jusqu’au Vieux- Port, en empruntant les ruelles pittoresques de cette belle Cité labellisée Ville d’Art et d’Histoire.
