Un centre d’interprétation du Matrimoine Méditerranéen
Initié en 2010 par les membres du Conseil scientifique de l’association, le concept de Matrimoine Méditerranéen symbolise l’union entre la Terre mère et la Mer Méditerranée « Mare Nostrum ». Il rappelle aussi l’engagement des femmes tout au long des siècles.
En effet, la Bastide Marin est un lieu où Terre et Mer s’unissent pour ne former qu’un patrimoine. Demeure de navigateurs au long cours, elle était également au centre d’un grand espace agraire (10 hectares) où des vignes et des oliviers fournissaient des récoltes importantes. Ces récoltes étaient partagées de moitié entre le propriétaire et le métayer.
« Ici et autour de la Méditerranée, la Terre et la Mer sont au cœur des traditions ancestrales, du savoir et de la sagesse populaire, elles sont « matrimoine ».
Ce Centre d’Interprétation du Matrimoine Méditerranéen aura pour vocation de préserver et de transmettre aux visiteurs et aux jeunes générations, les techniques anciennes et les savoir-faire ancestraux par le biais d’espaces créés et scénarisés à des fins de médiation.
La Bastide Marin has been a historic monument since 4 March 2013.
It is composed of a Bastide, a farm, a courtyard with well and a natural setting composed of several landscaped gardens, secret and harmonious.
It is the Interpretation Center of the “Mediterranean Matrimoine”, an innovative concept that goes beyond the simple notion of transmission from father to son – heritage. This concept is inspired by the history of this place linking the Mediterranean Sea to the Land of Provence.
Glorious long-time sailors lived here for centuries. They braved storms, epidemics and pirates. A member of the Order of Malta, their bastide was hospitable.
Bastide Marin is a summer resort, a refuge during maritime attacks and a place of healing, revealing many secrets.
Venerable trees inhabit the gardens, the spring in its well is clear and pure, the volunteers of the association “La Ciotat, il était une fois” give life to the land that fed bourgeois and people.
Here the Nourishing Sea (Mare Nostrum) and Mother Earth are glorified and unite their efforts for the benefit of the living Man, animal and plant. The alliance of Earth and the Sea are Matrimoine.
The gardens are cultivated in various cultural and historical spaces, you can visit:
– An educational vineyard composed of 14 grape varieties,
– An olive grove,
– A threshing area surrounded by local and utilitarian cultures,
– A wheat field, fallow land – green fertilizer for biodiversity,
– “The garden of flavours” – an ethno-botanical garden where scents and flavours invite to Mediterranean cuisine,
– “The Magic Garden” invites you on an inner journey, you discover nature, your own nature – 150 medicinal plants recall ancient traditions, plants and “witch” uses are scripted along an initiatory path accompanied by a grimoire,
– “L’Hortus du Matrimoine Méditerranéen”, a medieval-inspired garden in permaculture presents its forgotten vegetables, herbs and simple. Gaia watches over what feeds, the benches of the “mamé” await the chat.
In the small courtyard with walls, time stopped. The silence is sometimes broken by the song of a bird, the running of the squirrels. In the heart of the space of conviviality, on the paths or under a tree several times centenary, the extraordinary rubs shoulders with the ordinary, the vegetal lives in osmosis with the animal, the apiary benefits from the melliferous essences, the small educational farm makes the happiness of young and old.
The kingdom of insects and birds exists, often invisible but audible and sensitive to those who know how to observe and respect.
To share its treasures, Bastide MARIN welcomes you by appointment for a guided tour according to the tradition of the Interpretation Centres. The visit can last an hour, a day, an evening. A restaurant area awaits gourmets, Provencal tavern, grill area and bread oven delight the taste buds of amateurs.
